Review Assignments

Students will need to prepare reviews for some of the papers presented in class. Students are expected to read the paper presented at each class. Each student is expected to submit 14 reviews out of around 25 papers to be presented. Additional reviews will earn you extra credit. Each review must be submitted to the instructor (olga@cs.brandeis.edu) by 10am the day of the class. The subject line must include "COSI228". Each review should include the following sections:

1. Paper title
2. Reviewer name
3. Summary of the paper (in your own words - max 5 sentences)
4. Strong points of the paper (max 3 sentences)
5. Weak points of the paper (max 3 sentences)
6. Research challenges the paper does not address and /or what improvements (if any) can be made? (max 3 sentences)

Presentations

Each student should pick around 2-4 papers (depending on the number of participants) from the reading list and present it in class. Presentations should not exceed 40 minutes (when no interruptions exist). Students are expected to send a draft of their presentation slides to the instructor 3 days before their presentation in order to get feedback.

Class Participation

All students are strongly encouraged to participate by asking questions, making observations, identifying strengths and weaknesses of the approaches and papers under discussion.
